Building Bridges: A Multi-Layered Approach to Addressing Sex Education in Faith Communities

Join the Effi Barry Training Institute, led by HealthHIV, on Tuesday, September 24 at 1:00pm EDT for a webinar that will explore effective strategies for addressing sex education in faith communities. The faculty will discuss modern sex education principles, current trends in sexually transmitted infections (STIs), strategies for engaging with diverse age groups, and methods for fostering open, supportive dialogues. A Q&A session with expert panelists will follow the presentation.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Describe the epidemiology of STIs in the United States.
  • Review the disparities of STIs for persons 25 and under in the United States.
  • Discuss the development of youth-led initiatives to educate and inform persons under 25 of their risk for STIs.
  • Engage faith community partners to promote a holistic wellness approach.

Faculty
Dr. Mauda Monger, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Population Health in the Population Health Science department and Director of the Center for HIV Education, Research, and Policy. She has a public health and educational background and 20 years of experience in community-based organizations, academic settings, and local, state, and federal government agencies.
