Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  • Identify engagement strategies that help establish trust with PrEP clients.
  • List three assessment areas to assess a client’s priorities and needs around HIV prevention.
  • Identify communities or individuals who are possible candidates for PrEP.

CME/MOC

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.5 MOC point in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Participation information will be shared through the ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS).

UEMS

The European Union of Medical Specialists-European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (UEMS-EACCME®) has an agreement of mutual recognition of continuing medical education (CME) credit with the American Medical Association (AMA). European physicians interested in converting AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ into European CME credit (ECMEC®) should contact the UEMS (www.uems.eu).

AAPA Category 1 CME

Medical Learning Institute, Inc. has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 0.5 AAPA Category 1 CME credit. Approval is valid until December 1, 2025. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 0.5 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Medical Learning Institute, Inc. (MLI) is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses are approved under this program. Regulatory boards have the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 4.0 general continuing education credits.

Completion of all 8 modules is required in order to receive a certificate of completion for 4.0 continuing education credits.

Sponsored by HealthHIV, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 4 total Category I continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level CECH available is 0. Continuing Competency credits available are 4.

Method of Participation

There are no fees for participating in or receiving credit for this CE activity. In order to receive credit, learners must participate in the entire CE activity, complete the post-test and activity evaluation form and your certificate of credit will be generated. A passing score of 70% or higher is needed to obtain credit.  Your certificate will be available on eHealthHIV.org. For information on applicability and acceptance of continuing education credit for this CE activity, please consult your professional licensing board.

For Physicians requesting MOC credit, the post-test and evaluation are required in their entirety as well as your Board Unique ID number, DOB (MM/DD), and a score of 70% or higher is needed to obtain MOC credit (75% is required for ABS).

For Pharmacists, MLI will accept your completed evaluation form for up to 30 days post-activity and will report your participation to the NABP only if you provide your NABP e-Profile number and DOB (MM/DD). Within 6 weeks, you can view your participation record at the NABP website: https://nabp.pharmacy/.

For Social Workers, completion of all 8 modules is required in order to receive a certificate of completion for 4.0 continuing education credits.
